Study Tips
Don't become a finals week grinch! Here are a few tips to help you study and maintain balance even during finals week. What are your best tips?
Before you get deep in study mode, stock up on healthy, tasty snacks to keep you fueled with minimal effort (Examples: apples and nut butter, baby carrots and hummus, whole grain chips and guac, popcorn)
Ask your professor for help! Especially if you're not sure where to start. They want you to succeed.
Make studying fun (well, more fun). Use colorful highlighters, light your favorite candle or play your favorite music (check out our playlists if you need some new jams). If you're dreading it, you won't do it, so make it something you want to do.
Take a 5-minute break every 25 minutes to stretch and drink water.
Explain key concepts to your pet or a stuffed animal. Saying them out loud will help reinforce them in your memory (this helps with presentations too).
Put your phone in another room while you're studying.
Create a distraction log where you write down any important, but unrelated thoughts, that you will take care of once you've finished studying.
Pick one relaxing activity to do each day after studying, and then give yourself permission to do it! Don't think about exams during this time.
Incorporate nature into your day... go for a walk, take care of a plant, play ocean sounds.
Shower, brush your teeth, wear real clothes. Good hygiene still matters.
Get moving. Have a dance party, play with your dog, do some burpees if that's your thing, just get that blood flowing.
Go to sleep at a regular. Seriously.
End each day with a list of three things you're grateful for.
Before the test, say three things you like about yourself. Instant mood boost! And no matter what happens, avoid the temptation to compare yourself to others. You are awesome!
