About the Speaker
Consul Rafael Laveaga is a career diplomat. He has worked for Mexico’s federal government for over 30 years in foreign policy, law enforcement and media relations. He has been chief of staff of the Foreign Affairs Committee at Mexico’s House of Representatives; deputy director at the Office of Mexico’s Attorney General for the European Union (headquartered in Madrid); communications director at the Embassy of Mexico in the United States; deputy consul general in San Diego; chief of staff to the undersecretary for Latin America and the Caribbean in Mexico’s Ministry of Foreign Relations, where he also served as deputy director general for Citizens Services and Consular Affairs. Laveaga is currently head of the Consular Section at the Embassy of Mexico in Washington, D.C. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and a master's degree in diplomatic studies.
About the Event
AACC President, Dr. Dawn Lindsay, will welcome Consul Rafael Laveaga and provide a brief introduction. This is a great opportunity to get an overview of embassy services and the embassy’s role in the community. Attendees will also learn more about U.S. and Mexico relations and have the opportunity to ask questions to the Consul. This event will be hosted in-person only.
