A LITTLE MORE
A former AACC student herself, Nicole Reed believes deeply in the power of education for individuals, our local community and our world. “My parents always told me to continue my education because it is something no one can take from you, and it can change all the opportunities you may be given,” Reed said. She feeds this into her teaching where she stretches her students to become the healthiest versions of themselves.
Reed is an assistant professor in Anne Arundel Community College's Department of Health, Fitness and Exercise Studies. She is also a small business owner. She and her husband, John, own Baydog CrossFit in Severna Park. Reed believes exercise is medicine for our mind and body. Fostering the positive development of all the dimensions of wellness, encouraging movement, and making nutrient dense food choices are concepts that she weaves into coaching and her teaching.
Reed’s students inspire her every day. Being the first in her family to go to college, she understands the courage it takes for students to step onto a college campus. “I believe they deserve the best opportunities and experiences when they are here because it can shape all their academic endeavors,” Reed said.
Outside of AACC and her gym, you may find Reed spending time with her three children, being outside in nature and regularly competing in Triathlons.
